Ben is a Chartered Accountant with nearly 20 years’ experience, this includes time in public practice. In 2008 Ben founded Johnston Associates. During this time Ben has also had commercial CFO roles within the wine industry and developed a successful Nelson based hospitality business.
Ben is from a farming background in Te Anau, Southland and has an active involvement in the family farming business which runs sheep and beef on 1500 Hectares.
Ben draws on the experience above to advise businesses on exceeding growth expectations, wealth creation and business structures as well as the importance of high quality financial information and the use of digital systems to achieve this.
Ben is on the board of Touch New Zealand and The Nelson Giants Basketball.
Outside of work Ben carved out a rugby career that includes stints at provincial level in Southland, Otago & Tasman and in his retirement from rugby now enjoys time mountain biking, running, golfing and spending time with whanau.
